ELECTRONIC VISIT VERIFICATION (EVV)

If you provide Medicaid-funded personal care and home health care services, effective September 1, 2024, the State of Michigan has mandated the use of an approved Electronic Visit Verification system (EVV) to document those services.

EVV is an electronic system such as a phone or computer used to verify that home or community-based service visits occur. The purpose of EVV is to ensure that services are delivered to people needing those services and the providers only bill for services rendered.

EVV will capture:

  • The type of service performed
  • Beneficiary, client, or participant receiving the service
  • Date of the service
  • Location of service delivery
  • Individual providing the service
  • Time the service begins and ends
